I want to talk to you about the one thing that every personal injury client should know: Talk to your lawyer. This is the most important thing for you to do when you hire an attorney!
If you don’t talk to you lawyer, you’re not going to get the guidance you need to make sure you maximize the value of your case. Too many personal injury plaintiffs, personal injury clients, either never talk to their lawyer, or they talk to their lawyer only once- then they just deal with a paralegal the entire time. The problem with that is if you are not talking to your lawyer regularly, and I would say once a month – I like to hear from my clients every two weeks – and thinking about questions, and asking hard questions, then you’re probably not doing the right things to build the evidence you need in your case.
I make sure that I contact my clients at least once a month, and that I reach out to my clients as often as needed. But, some lawyers are not going to do that and you have to take it upon yourself to call your lawyer and hope that lawyer answers the call. It’s very important, because you got to keep in mind, your lawyer might have 100, 200, 300 cases. You only have one.
So give your lawyer a call, ask the hard questions, do what the lawyer says, and you’re going to be much better off in maximizing the value of your case and and also shortening the time it takes to get your case from the inception to the conclusion.
They say the squeaky wheel gets the grease and that is absolutely true in the personal injury world. If you’re my client and you haven’t heard from me in a couple weeks, give me a call – I would love to hear from you!
